Recertification

BPS requires all board-certified specialists to re-certify every seven years. Recertification assures the public and the profession that certified practitioners undergo periodic evaluation.

Purpose Statement:

The purpose of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties’ Recertification Program is to facilitate and promote the maintenance of specialized training, knowledge, and skills of Board Certified Pharmacists resulting in optimized patient care through improved specialty knowledge, clinical judgment, professionalism, and patient interactions.

Continuing Competence:

BPS defines continuing competence as the board certified pharmacist’s  ability to provide service that utilize the knowledge base demonstrated not only at the time of initial certification but throughout the time the board certified pharmacist maintains their respective board certification.
