Washington, DC – The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) announces the addition of Kate McKenna as Communication and Engagement Specialist on September 1 to the BPS Professional Affairs, Communications, and Engagement (PACE) team and Amin Saiar, PhD as Senior Director, Psychometrics and Testing, Lead Psychometrician on September 13.


“BPS is fortunate to expand our staff with two experienced professionals.” said William Ellis, BPS Executive Director. “Kate and Amin will promote the value and impact of board certification in their respective positions.”


McKenna earned her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Strategic Communications from the American University School of Communications. She previously served as Business Development Coordinator and Fellow with BluShark Digital as well as Press Office Associate for United Airlines – London. Her professional interests include ethics of public relations, strategic and health communications, and digital management.


“Kate’s business development, customer relations, and standards comprehension experiences from other industries combined with her interest in the intersectionality with healthcare communications will enhance the BPS brand across digital platforms through strategic engagement of our stakeholders and audience.” said Brian Lawson, Associate Executive Director.


Saiar earned his PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of California Los Angeles. He previously served as Vice President of Psychometric Services at PSI. Prior psychometric, assessment, and leadership positions include experiences with Comira, American Nurses Credentialing Center, and Consulting Measurement Group. Saiar served as a commissioner for the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), member of the Association of Test Publishers (ATP) Certification and Licensure Division leadership and is a current member of the ICE Accreditation Service Council. He is published in multiple white papers, peer-reviewed journals, and was a chapter author for the Third-Edition of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) Handbook.


“As an award-winning scientist-practitioner, Amin brings solid experience in psychometrics, personnel management, and research in healthcare, academia, credentialing, and organizational development,” commented Ellis. “Amin will oversee the BPS Psychometrics, Testing, and Research Team, and serve as a member of the BPS Management Team.”
